Brand Mention (in AI)
A brand mention in AI is any instance of an AI-generated answer naming a brand, whether as a recommendation, a comparison, or a passing reference. Mentions are the atomic unit of AI visibility: tracked over time and across models, they become mention rate, share of voice, and sentiment.
Not all mentions are equal — position matters (first recommendation vs an afterthought), sentiment matters (recommended vs warned about), and consistency across models matters more than any single answer. That's why mention tracking is longitudinal rather than a one-time check.
