Google-Extended
Google-Extended is a robots.txt user-agent token that lets site owners control whether their content is used to train and ground Google's Gemini models, separately from normal Google Search indexing. Disallowing Google-Extended removes your pages from Gemini's training and grounding without affecting your Search rankings.
It is a control token rather than a distinct crawler — Googlebot still crawls the page for Search, but the Google-Extended directive governs AI use. Brands that want Gemini visibility should leave it allowed, since blocking it quietly cuts you out of Gemini answers and Google AI Overviews grounding.
